Did you know that the word ‘health’ originates from Old English of Germanic origin, to mean ‘whole’? Based on that, health is all-encompassing. It isn’t just related to the physical form but also to the wellness of mind and soul. When all three coexist in harmony, this is when one can consider him or herself truly healthy.
Deep. But makes a lot of sense.
The rambling mind.
Maybe that explains why I am so lethargic all the time even though I work out at the gym three times a week (almost). Shouldn’t being fit means being alert? Apparently not, if there are a thousand things on my mind.
I can’t seem to switch off my thoughts. Always thinking and processing. No wonder my mind is one big clutter. At the rate of how little sleep I’ve been getting, those eye wrinkles will creep in sooner than I think.
What I need, apart from sleep, is an eye gel that works wonders so I don’t look so tired when I wake up, like the Anti-Fatigue Eye Contour Gel. Apparently, it’s a lifesaver. Here I am every morning, waking up to puffiness, dull skin, dark circles and eye bags, thanks to my sleep situation. Sigh I have to send out an SOS and get my hand on that eye gel. Need instant rescue!
Maybe I should also consider Dermazulen Soothing Lotion, a toner for the face and eyes too! A few drops on cotton pads to place over the eyelids and make eyes look less puffy. It also has lavender essential oil! Bright eyes and a peaceful mind. What else can a nocturnal person like me ask for?
There is a thin line behind the ways to achieve a healthy mind and soul. What works for one can work for the other. Prayers, meditation and even energy-healing practises like Tai Chi and Chi Gong are said to calm the mind and strengthen the spiritual core.
Easier still is the practise of penning thoughts down on paper; a journal to record life experiences and emotions. My notebooks are all over my house, in every nook and cranny (because you never know when you need to let off some steam). I try to keep my writings positive but at times, I use all-caps.
There is one more method towards wellness of the soul. The practise of forgiving.
This frees your soul from being anchored down with bitter emotions. When the mind and soul are steady, your physical being will follow suit. You emit radiance because all is well on the inside and outside.
